NEW EVENT MINISERIES ‘HEROES REBORN’ COMES TO NBC IN 2015

Tim Kring to Executive Produce 13 New Episodes of Groundbreaking Series ‘Heroes’

鼎宝福彩An iconic series that still commands a rabid fan base, “Heroes” will return to the network in 2015 as an event miniseries with original creator and executive producer Tim Kring at the helm, it was announced today by NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.

鼎宝福彩NBC has ordered 13 episodes for a new stand-alone story arc entitled “Heroes Reborn,” with all details of storylines and characters being kept under wraps.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

鼎宝福彩The original series chronicled the life-changing stories of a series of unrelated ordinary people who discovered they had superhuman abilities. As the saga unfolded, they learned they were part of a grand plan that brought them together to change the world.

With the return of “Heroes Reborn,” NBC will launch a digital series prior to the 2015 premiere that will introduce the characters and new storylines. This leveraging of social media is a way for fans to re-engage with what was one for the true pioneers in multiplatform storytelling.

The iconic sci-fi series, which ran on NBC from 2006-10 and was an immediate hit, ranked as television’s #1 new drama with an average audience of 14.5 million viewers during its initial season. The show was Golden Globe-nominated in its first year of eligibility for best drama series; it won the BAFTA Award for best international series, the AFI Award, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Saturn Award, two People’s Choice Awards and the Television Critics Association Award for Program of the Year.

“Heroes” remains one of the best-selling TV series on DVD of all time with more than 10 million units sold.

According to who spoke with “Heroes” creator Tim Kring, “Heroes” may get a real finale in the form of a mini-series. Kring plans to meet with NBC to discuss the idea, which would involve a time jump of a year into the future and would deal with the ramifications of Claire “outing” the heroes to the world.

All the major entertainment sites have been tweeting and reporting in the last hour … It is official, “Heroes” is no more. I don’t think it’s a real shock to anyone honestly. The show had gotten pretty bad, and it seemed like several of the stars wanted out, had left or had bigger things on the horizon.

鼎宝福彩So long “Heroes,” I guess we’ll never know what happened to you all after Claire outed you to the world.

Heroes: It’s A Brave New World . . . .

Heroes: It’s A Brave New World . . . .

Posted by Dustin on 02.09.2010 at 9:46 pm

On Monday we saw the very early season finale of “Heroes.” As of yet there is no official renewal, but many expect it as it still makes NBC a good bit of money, even with the fallen ratings. It still sells DVDs, and it was one of the most (illegally) downloaded shows of 2009. Plus the Leno-fiasco has left them in a bind and a free hour of television every night to make up for next season. I expect a half-season given to them to wrap up things.

As with earlier seasons, this saw the end of one chapter and the last few minutes were dedicated to the beginning of the next chapter “A Brave New World.” Should it be the end of the show though, it definitely could serve as a series finale as well. So onto my thoughts . . . . .

鼎宝福彩This entire show centered on all the heroes reuniting to stop the big bad, but for once it wasn’t Sylar. I didn’t think I was going to like Sylar’s second redemption. We’ve been here before, clearly it didn’t last when he tried to turn a page before. This time I think I liked the idea a lot more because they had him locked up for 5 years time, even though in reality it was only like 3 days. Of course given he was stuck in a world by himself, I’m not sure how he knew it was 5 years.

I actually found myself liking Hiro’s story for once. However his reuniting with Charlie in the present, who was now elderly and dying of some unknown illness was heartbreaking. She had been taken back in time and left there, where she met a man and had babies and grandbabies. Hiro couldn’t change things without changing Charlie’s family (and killing all her kids). Still I thought it was sad though, once again Hiro was cheated of a life with a woman he loved. At the same time, we knew the actress wouldn’t be back as she had a gig on “Glee,” so her story had to come to an end.

鼎宝福彩By the end of the show, Claire and HRG escaped from their grave with Tracy’s help and most everyone (well not Surresh) found themselves at the carnival in New York working to stop Samuel from destroying the city and killing thousands of people in Central Park, if not millions in the city.

I liked Sylar coming to try and rescue Emma and telling Doyle “I’m a Hero.” Should the show continue, I hope they do NOT send Sylar back to being a villain. Been there done that!

I loved Emma finally realizing Peter was right about Samuel being evil, and that Peter may finally have found a love interest in Emma. However I feel like Peter got the small end of the storyline stick this season. Lydia predicted Peter could be their new leader, but then she was killed and now it looks like the carnival is disbanded. Maybe it will come into play next season (if there is one) and with what happened at the end of the show. That Peter will step up and take charge of the exposed heroes and people with powers.

The show of course ended with Claire, during a news conference on the events of the carnival, decided it was time to out all those with powers. She told the cameras to watch her as she scaled a Ferris wheel, through herself off, and in attempt number 984294293 survived.

So now, unless there is a big cover up, the heroes have been outed to the world. Hence the title of the next chapter “Brave New World.” I actually do hope there is another season, just because I want to see how this is tackled. Also we still have never been given an adequate explination for the Tracy/Barbara/Nikki crapola. I think they are hoping we’ve forgoteen about Barbara at this point!

鼎宝福彩Though if there is no next season, I still think this is a good way to end it. The entire show was brought full circle with Claire’s attempt at destroying herself closing it out, as she was the one who exposed us to the “Heroes” in season one.

Heroes Season Finale February 8th: Brave New World

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 02.01.2010 at 2:01 pm

鼎宝福彩“Heroes” ends its season VERY early this year on February 8th with the episode “Brave New World.” As of yet it has not been announced if it will be renewed, but most expect NBC to probably give it one final season (my guess is a half season).

The new NBC Dramedy “Parenthood” begins airing in “Heroes” place on Mondays after the Olympics. I’ve put up a new poll asking if you plan to tune into the show. The cast looks amazing, and as there is nothing else on Monday at that time, I plan to give it a try at least.

Heroes: Catching Up And Thoughts

Heroes: Catching Up And Thoughts

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 01.22.2010 at 6:19 pm

So I had a 2 hour marathon of “Heroes” Monday night, both last week’s and this week. Again just some quick comments and thoughts as I continue to play catch-up.

鼎宝福彩I thought the story with Claire and Sylar was interesting and not what I expected. I thought yet again he’d have to get something from her, but all he wanted was her thoughts on his situation. In the end he had to trick her by pretending to be Gretchen, but got what he needed. In order to be human again he has to give up all he’s stolen. Interesting! Could we actually see Sylar try and be cured of all his powers via a serum from Surresh?

Having Claire go gay with Gretchen I am having issues with, mainly because they’ve given her boyfriends through most of the show. Then again all her boyfriends seem to mysteriously vanish too!

I like that Lydia is onto Samuel, and with his destructive outburst at the local town, I think the rest of the Carnies are too. Also Lydia sensing Peter could be their new leader and sending him the compass was a great twist. Again unexpected, I thought for sure it would be someone like Hiro or Surresh.

Hiro putting his life on the line to save Surresh, then ending up on “trial” was interesting. I did like seeing David Anders back, wasn’t expecting that one at all! I just hope with his mother healing him that we are over this brain tumor storyline with him.

I know I’m forgetting other stories in this, it’s been awhile. I know Noah was on for a bit, but sorta wasn’t paying close attention when he was on. Then there was the Peter and Emma drama, with Mama Petrelli seeing Emma hurting many people with the cello. Peter smashing it and inuring Emma’s wrath was a bit startling. I could totally see her going bad along with Samuel, Samuel dying and then her just snapping. Though at the same time I feel they are setting up this drama and tension to put her into a love story with Peter.

Heroes Returns: Confused Heroes!

Heroes Returns: Confused Heroes!

Posted by Dustin on 01.06.2010 at 5:37 pm

“Heroes” returned on Monday with a two hour episode. For fans like me, who have a somewhat waning interest in the show as of late, 2 hours was really pushing it. I found myself drifting in focus back and forth. The following is mostly just some random thoughts on what happened rather than a recap . . .

With the funeral for Nathan and burying of his body, I guess Nathan really is going to be a “stuck” death. I had hoped they were keeping his body on ice as maybe there would be a chance for his return in the future if the show decided to do so. Guess not!

The Hiro brain tumor storyline where he was talking in pop-culture movie riddles was funny at first, but got old fast. He eventually lead Ando to were Surresh was being held, and let him know they had to rescue him.

I just don’t find Hiro that funny anymore, and when they make him funny I tune out. I like it when he’s more of the kind compassionate yet fierce warrior her original was (or wanted to be).

鼎宝福彩I liked that Claire did not trust Samuel as far as she could throw him, but at the same time she didn’t want to take away the promise of the community Samuel had made to those like Lydia and Doyle that it was important to. However in the end, I don’t think Samuel gives a rats ass about any of the people he’s collected, he has a plan to tap into their powers for something big.

鼎宝福彩As a result of Sylar’s body/mind switch it appears he’s “impotent” as they put it, unable to kill to take any more powers (but he can still take powers). A clever way of getting around him killing the whole carnival as he planned.

I really liked Lydia and Sylar pairing up, I just hope we don’t have to live through another Kristen Bell fiasco where he does end up killing her somehow!

鼎宝福彩Sylar, using Lydia’s power, found out once again he has to go in search of the Cheerleader. So the show seems to have been brought full-circle back to the beginning. I do have to wonder if this is anticipation of this being the final season? There have been some comments online from show execs though that basically the show still makes NBC a fair amount of money, so they doubt they will be canceled.

鼎宝福彩I do wonder why Sylar is going back to the Cheerleader? To try and get that something extra special in her? Will it make him able to kill again perhaps?

鼎宝福彩Samuel went to collect Emma, and we learned that her power is much much more than just seeing the sounds others see or make. He told her in time she’d learn what her real power was, but didn’t tell her. It appears she can control the sounds like sonic shock waves perhaps? The previews seemed to show Samuel using her to cause great destruction.

鼎宝福彩Fun Fact! “Heroes” was apparently the most pirated and downloaded show of 2009!
