鼎宝福彩So I fell way behind with my blog this past year, mainly due to an increase in my hours working. I’m going to try and get back into the routine this summer and not lose it when the fall comes back around! This post is to give my quick thoughts on many of the finales for the shows I watch. It’s been awhile for some, so I’m doing my best to recall what happened.

Grey’s Anatomy
I’m still furious that they killed of McDreamy, but at least Meredith, her sister and Amelia all ended up in a good place with one another by the end of the season. Meredith moving back to her old house was a great idea too. As for Jackson and April, I hope they work things out.

Grimmm
I’m stunned they actually killed off Juliette, but was glad the did so as she became a real witch. It seems she really is dead, or the show really wants us to believe that for now. Her death also opens up the possibility of something between Adalind and Nick. I am confused as to if Adalind has lost her powers again though. Meanwhile that weird organization seems to be after Truble, but I can’t help but worry she’s already working with them and called them in.

Nashville
It looks like Deacon’s sister Bev is a goner, as I refuse to believe they will kill Deacon off the show. The arrest of Teddy was shocking, though not as shocking as the fact that Tandy was the real mastermind behind many of her father’s dirty dealings. I wonder if this means she’ll return next year? I loved that Will finally came out of the closet. It’s about time! Juliette’s story was heartbreaking, and I can’t believe that witch betrayed Rayna by going to Jeff.

Sleepy Hollow
The death of Ichabod’s wife Katrina was just as fulfilling as Juliette on Grimm. What’s with these good girls gone bad? Jeremy also got his it would seem, after taking out Molloch. I’m not sure who there is to be the next big bad now? Old headless?

Gotham
I watched “Gotham” this season, but honestly near the end of the season started to lose interest. The final few shows with the discovery of the batcave and the bloodbath amongst the mobsters was really good though.

The Flash
“The Flash” was probably my favorite new show all year, and one of my favorites period. I loved the characters, and the villains, and cannot wait for it to return. Given they killed erased Wells from history, well his imposter, I can’t help but wonder what repercussions throughout time that will create. There basically should be no Flash right now, as Well’s created him! This is a possible way to bring back the real Wells if they want to though.

The Returned & Bates Motel
I completely lost interest in these two A&E shows. I do want to try and finish “The Returned” at some point this summer, as well as watch the original French version. I did see the final few episodes of “Bates,” especially after hearing about the pivotal final scene.

A&E: Bates Motel Season 3 Begins Tonight. Plus The Returned.

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 03.09.2015 at 2:35 pm

Tonight A&E heats up with two great dramas tonight! First up is season three of “Bates Motel” and then a remake of the French sensation “The Returned.” I’m not sure if we need another one of these kind of shows, but I’ll tune in nonetheless.

Bates Motel鼎宝福彩,” returns for a gripping third season filled with family strife, murder and mystery lead by Vera Farmiga (Norma) and Freddie Highmore (Norman). This season focuses on the evolution of the Bates family and dives head first into Norman’s waning ability to stay in denial about what’s happening to him and the lengths he will go to gain control of his fragile psyche. The dramatic events of last season leaves Norma (Vera Farmiga) reluctantly more aware of Norman’s mental fragility and is fearful of what he is capable of. From executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “The Returned”) and Kerry Ehrin (“Friday Night Lights,” “Parenthood”) “Bates Motel” serves as a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho and provides viewers with an intimate portrayal of how Norman Bates unravels through his teenage years.

After a blissful summer of closeness with his mother, living within the safe confines of home and the Bates Motel, Norman’s fears about what really happened with Blaire Watson resurface and Norma questions what really happened. Forced to look at the truths about Norman for the first time, their deeply intricate relationship continues to evolve. Norma finds herself turning to the other man in her life, Norman’s half-brother, Dylan (Max Thieriot) and begins to rely on him in ways that she never expected. This relationship inevitably triggers jealousy in Norman and a new kind of love triangle between Norma and her two sons erupts. Estranged brother and uncle, Caleb (Kenny Johnson) returns to haunt the family throughout the season challenging the family bond even further. Pressures of the outside world take a hold of the family when newcomers Kevin Rahm (“Mad Men,” “Desperate Housewives”), Tracy Spiradakos (“Revolution”) and Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy”) arrive at White Pine Bay. After a summer of living at the Bates Motel, Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) and Norma have grown closer but there will always have that troubling question mark surrounding Norman. Something doesn’t feel right, but spite of his instincts, Romero finds himself continually drawn back to the Bates family — and to Norma. Emma (Olivia Cooke) also determined to find out what is happening to Norman becomes more emboldened, fearless, goes after the things she wants. Familiar face, Bradley (Nicola Peltz) returns to surprise the family and digs up old memories.

The Returned鼎宝福彩,” from executive producers Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel”) and Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”), focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on a physical and emotional level. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur. “The Returned” is based on the popular and International Emmy®-award winning French suspense series adapted by Fabrice Gobert and inspired by the feature film, Les Revenants, directed by Robin Campillo.

“The Returned” stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Smashed), Mark Pellegrino (“Lost”) , Jeremy Sisto (“Suburgatory,” “Six Feet Under”), India Ennenga (“Treme”), Sandrine Holt (“House of Cards”), Agnes Bruckner (“24”), Sophie Lowe (“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”), Tandi Wright (“Nothing Trivial“), Mat Vairo (“Revolution”), Kevin Alejandro (“True Blood”), Dylan Kingwell (“The Tomorrow People”), Aaron Douglas (“Battlestar Galactica”), Dakota Guppy (“Rush”), Leah Gibson (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Michelle Forbes (“The Killing”), Rhys Ward (“The Strain”), Scott Hylands (“V”), Terry Chen (“Bates Motel”), Roger Cross (“24”).

Various Thoughts On Season Finales/Almost-Finales

Various Thoughts On Season Finales/Almost-Finales

Posted by Dustin on 05.23.2014 at 3:51 pm

This post has my quick thoughts on a lot of the shows from the past week (or two). Some are on the finales, others are on the near finales or mid-season finales.

Bates Motel
鼎宝福彩 Bates will be back for a third season, I just hope it’s more interesting than this season was. The drug war going on was just boring as hell. With the way the season ended, and the heads of the drug families all ending up dead, hopefully the storyline is too. The reveal of Dylan’s parentage was good, and long overdue. The end of the season finally set up Norman as the lying sociopath we know from the movies. He passed a lie detector test because he truly believes he didn’t kill his teacher, that his imagined mother did. Creepiness! I’ll actually feel bad when the time comes for him to kill his mother.

Castle
鼎宝福彩 In the finale few episodes “Castle” gave us great joy and great sorrow. After many seasons Kate finally nabbed her mother’s killer and put him away. It was about damn time, because if that dragged on another season I was going to lose my mind. As Kate and Castle prepared for their wedding, it was spoiled when someone mysterious ran Castle off the road. Kate found his car in flames in a ditch. Now we know Castle isn’t dead, the show is coming back. However if they pull some kind of amnesia storyline on us, I will be fuming. I want my wedding dammit! The “Castle” season finale . . .

Dallas
Dallas will be back late this summer to finish its season out, but what a ride the first half was. The mid-season finale was a roller coaster. Pamela finally learned about John-Ross and Emma, pretended like she wanted a threesome, but then spazzed out and we learned she had downed a bottle of pills. Now we know she’s not gunna die, she’s in the teasers for when it comes back. Why do they do these things to us? Meanwhile Elena started to wise up about her plot with Joaquin, but it was too little, too late. Joaquin is obsessed with her and poked holes in her diaphragm, then they made love. Meanwhile Elana’s brother Drew knows the truth and is out for revenge too. I still say there is something about that land deal we don’t know yet and it will leave Elena with egg on her face. Finally Christopher’s new girlfriend’s ex went and burned down Southfork, with a drunk Sue Ellen stuck inside. Bobby and John-Ross ran in to save her as the place started to come down around them. Oh boy!

Drop Dead Diva
鼎宝福彩 Drop Dead Diva isn’t over yet, but we are getting close to the end. This time it really is going to be the finale, so they better to it right. However as of now I’m so angry that I don’t know if I want to stick around. Oh I will of course, but I’m that angry! After all this time they go and kill off Grayson? Are you kidding me? The only good thing from the previews is that he ends up meeting Fred in heaven and says he needs to get back to Jane. I have been hoping Fred would be back somehow. But if Grayson returns, it obviously will have to be in someone else’s body . . . but whose? Oh “Drop Dead Diva” . . .

hated-it

Glee
鼎宝福彩 I wasn’t a big fan of “Glee’s” finale either mind you. Just when everyone was getting settled into New York, everyone is now off for different places in the country as we head into the final season. Hate it! Oh and I really just want to grab Rachel and shake the crap out of her. After 5 seasons of having to hear her dream about being on Broadway, she finally gets her dream and after a weeks worth of shows is ready to move on to something else. Are you kidding me?

Grey’s Anatomy
鼎宝福彩 I was waiting during the entire finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” for someone to die, and nobody did! I guess that was Shonda’s shock for the finale? There were other issues. Cristina finally left, and took her side-kick intern with her. Good riddance! I’m still angry it never came out what he did to Heather Brooks. Derrick and Meredith are fighting like cats and dogs over their jobs, and Meredith finally took a stand and told him off. Good for her, but bad for their marriage. Neither is going anywhere though, so we know they’ll work it out. It also looks like Amelia may become a permanent fixture next season. Yay! Poor Bailey though! She thought she had it all, back as head of ER surgery and was going to fill Cristina’s vacant board seat, until Alex learned Cristina left it to him. Noooooooo! Stop beating down my Bailey! The real shocker was the reveal of yet another Grey. A young girl, whom I think took over for Cristina, revealed to The Chief that she had recently found out her mother was Ellis Grey, but had given her up for adoption. That is why she wanted to come work here. Oh yeah, the girl is clearly half African-American, and The Chief knew exactly what that meant! Congrats dude, it’s a girl!

Grimm
I hate to beat a dead horse, but I’m still annoyed we never went anywhere with Nick’s mysterious illness at the beginning of the season. The finale saw Adeline use her latest potion to strip Nick of his powers. The potion he had to drink to restore them, which came from what little liquid was left from her spell, ended up being dropped and broken. It took ten minutes for that to happen, and you knew it was going to happen somehow. Nick seems to be SOL right about now. They left it as if it could be a blessing, that now Nick and Juliette could be happy. Pahleese! Even without his powers, he knows too much and will be a target. He just has to get his powers back, and it will likely take half of next season to do that. Meanwhile as he was investigating poor Renard’s shooting at Nick’s house, Wu found Nick’s Grimm book! He knows he isn’t crazy now. Oh and as for Captain Sexy Pants, he totally can’t die! He has to come back! It’s just like Nick no longer being a Grimm, it just can’t happen.

Nashville
鼎宝福彩 I’m so happy that “Nashville” is coming back next year and for a full season. I thought the finale was really well done. Poor Juliette’s world crumbled around her as Jeff was blackmailing her. Rayna refused to let her go and promised they’d screw Jeff, while Avery learned the truth from Gunnar about Jeff and Juliette’s night of yuck. She begged him not to leave her, and that he was the only man she’s ever really loved, and blah blah blah. Juliette really makes it hard to feel sorry for her most of the time. Elsewhere, Will’s struggle with his sexuality came to a head as he finally told his wife, in the “privacy” of their bedroom, that he was gay. She looked shocked, but neither of them realize the reality show in fact hid a camera in their bedroom. Wow that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen! I still don’t know if Layla was totally clueless or not. Something makes me think she won’t let Will go, she will use him to get to the top and he’ll keep using her as a beard. Finally Luke proposed to Rayna, who accepted, only to have Deacon show up at her house and give her her engagement ring back and told her that he wanted her back too. What will Rayna do ?!?!?! We know in the end she’ll end up with Deacon, but I do like me some Luke. “Nashville’s” season finale . . .

Bates Motel Season 2 Thoughts: Slow Start

Bates Motel Season 2 Thoughts: Slow Start

Posted by Dustin on 03.18.2014 at 6:48 pm

鼎宝福彩So I’ve been watching “Bates Motel” season 2, but until last night’s 3rd episode I wasn’t that impressed. I mean did we really need two episodes of Bailey killing her father’s killing and having to escape town? After an amazing first season, I began to worry without the mystery of the hotel and the girl in the room that perhaps there wasn’t much else for the show to really do except start playing out Norma’s insanity issues.

Fortunately last night’s episode was great. Norma’s brother Caleb returned to town, and we finally got some insight into her past. We knew she had told Norman that her brother raped her, which is why she didn’t talk about her past at all. Caleb contacted Dylan and began planting all kind of lies in his head about how his and Norma’s father abused them both, and he didn’t do anything to protect Norma. Dylan was furious at Norma for ostracizing her brother as she does everyone else . . . until it came out that Caleb was in fact Dylan’s father. Yup, he’s an incest baby!

鼎宝福彩Norman meanwhile made some new friends at school, and Mrs. Watson’s father was out to seemingly find out what really happened to his daughter, and became Norma’s new BFF in town. Oh brother! That won’t go over well for Norman . . .

Bates Motel Season Finale: Kill Her Norman!

Bates Motel Season Finale: Kill Her Norman!

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 05.26.2013 at 7:54 pm

鼎宝福彩So I ended up watching the final two episodes of “Bates Motel” back to back this week. While some things were resolved, others were not, and I have a lot of questions! This is just a rundown post of my thoughts, and questions . . . with a bit of summary in there.

The guy in Number 9 was in fact in cahoots with Keith and Zach in the Asian sex slave business. Apparently he wanted to start it up again, but Keith absconded with a wad of cash he owed him and he thought Norma had found it. He wanted her to turn it over to him, or else he’d kill her entire family. Norma didn’t have it, and she went to the Sheriff Romero. He said he’d take care of things, but she wasn’t so sure. The Sheriff then went to see Keith’s sister . . . it seems she had it? He then met with the guy when and where he told Norma too meet him with the money. Apparently the Sheriff had the money, or at least a bag that maybe it was is. As Norma spied, the guy tried to make a new deal with the Sheriff, they could just continue on with the business as usual. The sheriff claimed this was his town and he runs things, and then shot him dead! He then told Norma that he told her to trust him . . . as he walked off. I can’t figure out if the Sheriff is good, bad or what !?!?! Obviously he knew what was going on, which is why he covered for Zach and Keith’s murders and shot this guy dead. So he’s not completely good . . . But is he really evil?

Dylan started seeing Reilly, the girl that Norman screwed and was interested in, while Emma started loosing patience with Norman. I’m not sure if we ever learned what the deal with Reilly’s dad dying in the car crash in the premier was? If we did, I missed it. Later the teacher at school that felt Norman needed to see a psychiatrist became way too interested in his talent as a writer. After a school dance, which Norman initially went to with Emma, he ended up at the teacher’s house. This is when he heard the voice of his mother saying “What kind of teacher undresses in front of a student Norman? She’s a slut!”

鼎宝福彩Norman ended up going home to mommy, where everything was going to be okay. She said everything with the bad man had been taken care of. Initially she thought they’d have to move, which made Norman throw a fit. They may still want to though, as the final shot was of Norman’s teacher dead on the floor with her throat slit!

Other things that happened, Norma and Dylan got closer. He helped her learn to shoot to defend herself, and even called her mom. She was touched, it had been so long. He then confessed his job was guarding a weed field, which she didn’t like. I still don’t think we learned who the big wigs running that are. I’m sure the sheriff is one of them. I also don’t think Norman will like Norma and Dylan’s newfound closeness. Something tells me Dylan won’t make it till the end of season 2!

Bates Motel: What’s Up Number 9?

Bates Motel: What’s Up Number 9?

Posted by Dustin on 05.08.2013 at 1:28 pm

So the season of “Bates Motel” is quickly coming to a close. I think next week is either the finale or the next to last episode. So what have we learned?

Well the Sheriff covered for Norma and the boys, but I have to wonder why? He made it seem like he didn’t want the bad publicity, his own deputy being involved with a sex trade scandal with Keith Summers and all. However after tonight’s episode where Norma tried to push him for a favor involving the vote on the bypass, he pushed back. My guess is he covered because he has things of his own to hide. I think he knew about Zack’s involvement with Keith. I also am beginning to think he may be one of the heads of the marijuana field that Dylan works at.

Norman found a stray puppy he began to love, so the world had to take it away by having it run down in the middle of the street. I really didn’t need to see that! I can take shooting and gutting of people, but couldn’t they leave the cute dog alone? This of course led Norman to learn taxidermy from Emma’s father. So they gave us an explanation for adult Norman’s creepy hobby.

Norma’s elation over having a mysterious guest in room 9 who paid for a lot of rooms, but wouldn’t say why, soon turned sour as she felt he was up to no good. Really Norma? You think? She followed him around, it seems he went to either Keith or Zach’s boat looking for something, and then he caught her. He knew all about her and Zach and he demanded she give “it” to him or else! She had no clue what he was talking about. He said if she thinks about it, she knows! She threw him out, but that won’t be the end of him. The final scene had her finding Zach’s corpse in her bed!

鼎宝福彩My guess is he wants the book Norman found, and there may be a lot more to it than what we thought. I think he was a partner with Zach and Keith, or even the ring leader.

Bates Motel: The Big Twist! Plus Spoilers!

Bates Motel: The Big Twist! Plus Spoilers!

Posted by Dustin on 04.22.2013 at 11:53 pm

鼎宝福彩So I have not blogged about “Bates Motel” since the first few episodes, but have continued to watch. Part of the problem has been Monday is crammed on my DVR, it’s also the night I work late, so I always end up forgetting it’s on and have to watch on demand or late at night when I’m about to pass out.

鼎宝福彩The good news is, “Bates Motel” has been renewed by A&E for a second season. So creepy Norman and his family will be back for more. Yay!

Tonights episode was a major pivotal episode, which was needed as I felt myself getting a little bored with some of the past few episodes. They were verging into “The Killing” territory and leaving all the thrills till the very end. This one brought it though.

鼎宝福彩There has been a lot going on since I last blogged. Norma got arrested for Keith’s death, but a lack of evidence and a colossal screw up with blood samples set her free. Norman lost his V to Bradley. We still don’t know what the hell happened to Bradley’s dad, who got roasted in his car in the first episode. Dylan has gotten all messed up in this back woods drug cartel. Norman found Zach’s Asian love slave on his boat, where he was hiding her. Norma was stunned to learn this was real, not in Norman’s head after all, and was confused as Zach was a “good man.”

In this episode Dylan had put the idea in Norman’s head that Norma killed his father, and he wanted Norman to come live with him in a place he was planning to secure. Norma was stunned when Norman asked her point blank if she killed his father. She said no!

The shiznit hit the fan when creepy Deputy Zach found out his Asian love slave was hiding out at The Bates Motel. He took Norma, Norma, and Dylan hostage. When Zach lost it and started to hold a gun to Norman, and then attack Norma, Norman went into the zone . . . he tackled Zach. Dylan saw his chance and the two ended up fighting. Norma pulled Norman out of the house, he was bleeding and basically catatonic. She got him to the car and called 911 only saying “He’s trying to kill us, send the police!”

In the end, Dylan managed to kill Zach. As they waited for the cops, Dylan was done with the lying and wanted to come clean. Here came the big twist. This whole season they set it up that Norma probably killed her 2nd husband for the money. We learned he was a jerk and an abuser, and it was Norman who snapped and killed his own father in a state similar to his in this episode. He remembered nothing! Norma set it up to look like an accident in the garage, which Norman found. Years of abuse at this guys hands is probably why she snapped and killed Keith, that and the whole rape thing of course! She told Dylan that he could either give them up or help her protect Norman, who was innocent. She didn’t know what was wrong with him though . . .

WOW! That was a great twist! My guess is now they’ll set Zach up to take the fall. His Asian slave ran off into the woods, we don’t know where she is. Hopefully she turns up to verify the story, but there is also Norman’s friend who wasn’t there for all this that knows about her. Keith’s belt is somewhere in Zach’s place, so that will make it look like he killed Keith. It seems he was in on this sex slave business with Keith, so maybe the cops will think he turned on Keith and killed him? It would make sense that the blood would be in the hotel and on the carpet there, as that’s where they held the girls. It all fits neatly together . . .

鼎宝福彩Spoilers for the final four episodes ahead!

Bates Motel: What’s Wrong With Norman?

Bates Motel: What’s Wrong With Norman?

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 04.02.2013 at 7:39 pm

So this post recaps the highlights of the last two episodes, along with my thoughts on some of the twists and turns along the way.

Sheriff Romero, aka Sheriff Guyliner, has been up Norma’s ass over Keith’s disappearance. They found his abandoned car nearby the hotel, and he’s gone MIA. He’s sure Norma had something to do with his disappearance. Meanwhile Norma’s eldest son Dylan from her first marriage showed up and blackmailed his way into staying with his mom, who doesn’t like him or his attitude. Dylan said he’s sure the cops would love to know how things between her and her now dead second husband really were, and maybe they’d even start to ask questions as to what really happened to him. I knew it, I knew she probably killed him. Even Dylan thinks foul play was involved. Dylan also is not a fan of Norma and Norma’s bizzarre relationship. He thinks Norman lets Norma control him far too much, and thinks Norma is too fond of her son.

鼎宝福彩Norman shared the creepy sex diary he found with Jenna, who took it and used the internet to translate it. She found out that it was about an asian sex slave ring, and that when one of the girls died the others were forced to bury them in the woods near a cabin. She recognized some mountain monument in the background, so she convinced Norman to go on a hike to see if this book was real or fake. When they found the cabin in the woods, she realized there really could be dead asian girls buried out there. Later they linked the diary with room 4, which is where Norman found the diary. It looks like it was written and hidden by one of the girls who was kept chained in room 4. Jenna wanted to go to the cops, but Norman refused, because he and his mom were in enough trouble with them.

鼎宝福彩Norman ended up blacking out and passing out in the middle of a test at school. He was taken to the hospital, and Norma acted very strange when she was asked about his medical history and if he’d ever passed out before like this. Hmmmm, very strange! Is she even his mother? I wonder . . . Meanwhile as Norman was in the hospital, Sheriff Guyliner and Deputy Shelby showed up with a search warrant for Norma’s house. When Norman got home he found out Keith’s belt, which he kept and cleverly hid under his bed, which was in plain sight since his bed sheets didn’t go to the floor, was gone. Norma freaked on him, wondering why he’d keep that . . . what’s wrong with him? Norman wondered what’s wrong with him too.

Meanwhile Dylan got a new job, guarding secret pot fields out in the forest with some other guys. It turns out many of the more prominent families in town run the operation, and that this is what keeps the town afloat. My guess is somehow Dylan is going to get mixed up with the asian sex slave mystery since he’s out in those creepy woods. While talking about his family with one of the guys, he mentioned his mom and half-brother came from Arizona, and before that his mom lived in Colorado or Missouri or somewhere. One of the guys found it odd that he seems to know very little about his own mother’s past. Hmmmmm . . . . I’m thinking Norma has a past mystery of her own before the death of her most recent husband. Dylan also mentioned he hadn’t seen or heard from his own dad in years . . . . Is he as dead as Norma’s second husband?

Elsewhere Norma had to cozy up to Deputy Shelby to figure out what the cops knew. She learned he had spotted and taken the belt, he wanted to protect Norma. Norma knew she’d basically have to put out to keep him shut up. Later she told Norman about Shelby and the belt. That night Norman woke up and found Norma sitting next to him on his bed. She told him that the belt was at Shelby’s house, he got them in this mess, so he had to go get that belt. However what we soon learned was Norma never talked to Norman, it was all in his head. In an almost daze Norman headed to Shelby’s house and broke in to search for the belt. He found a locked basement, and when he found the keys and went down there he found a weird disco play room and then an asian woman locked in a bedroom. She grabbed him and begged him to help her! At that moment Shelby came home, with Norman in the basement with the woman.

Next week from the previews Norma goes to check out the basement and finds nothing, it’s empty. Was the woman there, or is Norman just crazy and seeing things? We know he imagined his mom talking to him in this episode, which makes me now wonder how many other conversations between Norma and Norman were even real?

Bates Motel Thoughts

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 03.20.2013 at 12:07 pm

鼎宝福彩If you still have a horror-mystery-bizarro show void in your schedule thanks to ABC yanking “666,” then “Bates Motel” is probably for you. The show on A&E is a reinvented backstory for a young Norman Bates of “Psycho.”

鼎宝福彩The show opens with young Norman discovering his father’s dead body. We don’t really know what happened, but given what we later learn about his mother, we have to wonder if foul play was involved. Norman’s mother Norma then uses every last penny to buy the Seafair Motel and adjoining house, which are located in the quaint coast town of Sea Point. We see Norma and Norman drive their in a classic car and pull up to the famous motel and house, which is fairly run down. We learn she got it in a foreclosure sale fairly cheap.

鼎宝福彩The first bizarro moment comes when we realize this version of the story is set in the present. Up until we see Norman on an iphone and meeting some girls wearing modern fashions, everything appeared to be set in the past. Norma’s clothes, Norman’s clothes, and the car they drove up in were all from the 50s. The house and motel too are straight from that period as well, and clearly hadn’t been updated.

A group of girls from Norman’s school take a liking to him, which doesn’t sit well with Norma. They invite him out to study, but it’s really a party. Norma doesn’t seem to want her little boy to hang around with them. You could almost hear her saying to herself “Those filthy sluts!”

We learn through a phone call, and from Norman’s conversation with the girls, that he has an older brother named Daryl. Daryl is MIA (until next week when he shows up according to the previews). He calls his mother up to borrow money, but she won’t hear of it and hangs up on him.

As Norma and Norman are cleaning up, a man (I forget his name, Sutherland or something like that) shows up and is furious. The house and motel are his, or were his. His great grandfather built the house in 1912, and his grandfather built the hotel in the 50s. He said only he can run them, and only he knows all their secrets. Norma threatens him, so he leaves. However he later returns at night, attacks and rapes Norma, who is saved when Norman clobbers him over the head with an iron. Norma then loses it and ends up stabbing the guy over and over.

Not knowing what to do, they hide the body in one of the hotel rooms. However as they get blood all over the carpet, they have to tear it up and all the other carpets in the other room as they match. At this point Norman finds a mysterious diary under one of the carpets. It features images of lesbians, someone peeping on women, and one woman being given drugs. At this point the local cops also show up, not knowing anyone had bought the place, and almost find the guy’s body stashed in a bathtub of Room 4.

By the end of the show they dump the body off shore, but Norma learns the town is voting on an overpass that will make their motel useless. She’s sure it won’t happen though. As Norman looks through his dirty diary, the last thing we see is a real life image of one of the scenes: a girl chained in a basement and being given drugs through a needle.

The show was definitely interesting. The previews were fairly twisted. It looks to have a lot of murder and a lot of secrets. Norma and Norman might not be the only nuts in this town.
