Two Weeks Of Swingtown

Two Weeks Of Swingtown

鼎宝福彩 Posted by Dustin on 08.31.2008 at 9:38 pm

Because I got so behind with Swingtown, I’m going to merge the last two episodes into one post. Rather than try and recap everything, I’m going to just give my thoughts on the stories and mix mini-caps in with them.

鼎宝福彩Tom pondered an offer to invest in a local dance club a friend was buying. He liked the idea of a future that was more grounded, so to speak. However the money was Trina’s to invest. She agreed to invest though, liking the idea of Tom not always flying off somewhere. This was the first I heard of this I think, that Trina had most of the money between them. Does Trina have some insane trust fund? Did I miss that at some point in the season?

鼎宝福彩Tom and Trina took Susan and Bruce with them to check out the club and they hit the disco floor. I do have to say given this show is about the 70s, I expected a lot more discoing. They waited till the season was almost over to really get funky. I loved the scenes of them all dancing together, I just wish we had gotten a little more of it and the funky disco beats than we did.

鼎宝福彩Janet went to work at a paper as a temp, and as usual made a big impression. This time a good one. She did her work on time and impressed the boss tremendously. Gotta love Janet! However her boss liked to pat her bottom, which Janet didn’t. By the end of the show she told him if he touched her behind again, her husband was going to kick his! She got some respect for that.

鼎宝福彩Roger meanwhile went to counseling and told the counselor he was in love with Susan. By the end of the show he went to see her and instead of telling her how he felt . . . he kissed her! Susan also kissed him back, and it was pretty damn hot.

鼎宝福彩Samantha’s cousin showed up in this episode, and Rick suddenly went from being a possible gay teen to enchanted with this new girl. Rick, BJ, Sam and her cousin ended up playing strip poker. However when Rick and the cousin went into a room for private time, he suddenly took off running! Nobody knew what exactly happened. I suspect Rick might not like girls as much as he thought?

鼎宝福彩The week after we found out what happened between them. Samantha and BJ were hanging out. He had a walkie-talkie as did Rick, but Rick left his on when he had private time with Samantha. As it turns out, she took her top off and he ran! Seems like Rick might be back on the gay train again? Sam and BJ laughed about it, until they overheard her cousin state the reason she and her mom (Sam’s aunt) were in town was to file for custody and take Sam away from her mom. It looks like Sam and BJ’s romance is about to come again. I am foreseeing them running away or something silly next week.

鼎宝福彩Laurie hung out with David and they went to the beach. David asked her if she wanted a yoohoo, which she responded to with “I love you too.” Seems she misheard! They skirted around it all day, and Laurie finally told him if he was going to dump her. He wasn’t, and he told her that he wasn’t taking the job at the school because it will conflict with the two of them being together. That was his way of telling her that he loves her too. Typical man, he couldn’t get the words out!

Susan planed a surprise party for Janet, as it was her birthday. Janet meanwhile continued working at the paper. A fellow reporter convinced her to submit pieces for consideration to be the paper’s new “Dear Trudy.” That is the perfect job for Janet. It took her awhile to warm up to it, but she decided to do it. Oh this show has to get picked up, I need to see Janet doing that job. Meanwhile I get the feeling that Janet’s co-worker has a little thing for her, and maybe she likes him too?

Roger got a job offer this week working for some architecture firm, but it meant moving to Cincinnati. He didn’t tell Janet, but he did tell Susan. She felt he should take it, that they couldn’t do this, what was happened between them. I don’t think Roger will do it though. He seems to be realizing he’s been unhappy for too long and this isn’t something that’s going to change.

Trina meanwhile found out she was pregnant. Fortunately the baby is Tom’s, according to the math. As Trina put it, they closed their marriage at the right time. I was convinced it was going to end up being Bruce’s! That would have really put a twist on the story. Trina tried to tell Tom, but he thought she was joking with him. I could tell though, Tom was excited about the idea, but thought Trina was kidding. Trina of course thinks Tom thinks they dodged a bullet apparently.

Bruce meanwhile was conflicted as the girl at his trading firm was considering leaving for another company. He called her up and asked her not to leave, saying he couldn’t stand not going to work and seeing her there every day. She asked him to come meet her, and he did. He lied to Susan, who heard him on the phone, and said he had to go to the office to get his briefcase and he’d probably just sleep there as it was so late. Susan knew it was a lie. The sad part in it all, Susan turned Roger away to stay in her marriage with Bruce, when she knew she was drifting away from him too. I guess she didn’t expect Bruce to be the one to leave her and have an affair.

Next week is the season finale, and it looks to be explosive!

Private Practice Tidbits

Private Practice Tidbits

Posted by Dustin on 08.29.2008 at 12:40 pm

On the new season of “Private Practice” we can look forward to a few things. First, much more romance is said to be in store. Addison is going to pursue something with David Sutcliffe’s character, the cop from last season. Her brother will come to town, played by Grant Show (Swingtown). Cooper and Dr. Charlotte King’s (hospital Chief of Staff) romance will continue, leaving Amy Brennaman’s character still out in the cold? Finally Dell, who declared his love for Naomi, apparently quits in the first episode! We’ll also see Naomi apparently mismanage the doctor’s practice to the point of financial failure. I smell a takeover! There is also a rumor that Addison could go back to “Grey’s” for an episode.

Big Brother: Double Eviction Night!

Big Brother: Double Eviction Night!

Posted by Dustin on 08.28.2008 at 9:13 pm

Spoilers for those not on Eastern Time!

Tonight was the night, the double eviction of this season. This meant the first eviction happened sooner than normal. But first a mini-video recap of the POV ceremony and the aftermath which included Ollie and Michelle blowing up and telling Keesha and Renny how Dan is a plant, he set them all up. Ollie also told them about his deal with Dan. Completely edited out was Ollie’s homophobic outburst at Memphis! Left in was Ollie’s blow-up when he went on a rampage and started breaking things.

Michelle then confronted Dan about why he’d do that to her. She thinks she’s the one person who hasn’t screwed him. Dan said he had no problem with her, but he wasn’t going to give Ollie all that power. Michelle then cried to the diary room that being back-doored isn’t fun and she doesn’t believe anything that comes out of Dan’s mouth.

Julie then informed the house guests that tonight would be a “Double Eviction.” Julie then started the votes to evict either Jerry or Michelle, allowing them to speak. Keesha voted to evict Michelle, as did Memphis. Ollie voted to evict Jerry. Renny then voted to evict Michelle, officially sending her home.

Julie talked with Michelle about her eviction. Michelle told Julie how something isn’t right about Dan, how she thinks he is a plant and there to make everyone look like a fool. Julie then told Michelle he was not a plant, which may make him the ultimate player. Michelle then says he’s crazy and she’s sure he’s going to be next to be evicted.

The new HOH comp was played, they had to guess on “future paper headlines” that CBS.com viewers voted on as the best match for the current house guests. They had to figure out who we felt the headline matched. It came down to Jerry and Keesha, and they had to answer a question with a number. Keesha beat out Jerry to win HOH.

Keesha had to immediately nominate two, she put up Ollie and Jerry since they were on the opposite side of her last week, while the others have stood by her side.

The veto competition then occurred. Everyone played in the veto, which involved them digging through hay stacks to find two veto medallions. By the end of the competition, Dan won the POV!

Ollie and Jerry were allowed to make their pleas to Dan, and Dan decided not to use the veto as certain people stood behind each other in this house this past week. The house guests then had to vote and unanimously voted Ollie out. Ollie walked out and just said “See you later man, good luck.”

鼎宝福彩Jerry felt insulted that Ollie didn’t even talk to him. Keesha told Jerry no hard feelings and good luck to him. Dan also hoped Jerry they could talk now more personally. Memphis always told him they are all good at this point. (On a side note, last night Jerry was saying horrible things about Memphis, Dan and Keesha to Ollie and Michelle!)

鼎宝福彩Ollie talked with Julie. He told her how he was a bit confused by Dan’s actions. Julie said Dan betrayed him, which he did week one with Brian. Ollie said he knew that, it’s an eye for an eye and this game is a game. Ollie says he was upset by how Dan played and mocked everyone (too bad they didn’t show Ollie’s name calling tirade!). Julie then asked him some questions about April.

As for the new HOH for the rest of this week. It will be either Renny, Dan, Memphis or Jerry. I am guessing the competition for the new HOH begins immediately or at some point tonight. I’ll know more later tonight with “After Dark.”

Blythe Danner Guests On Medium

Posted by Dustin on 08.28.2008 at 12:48 pm

鼎宝福彩Before you get too excited my fellow “Medium” lovers, the show won’t return until mid-season next winter as usual. To fill the void there will be “Ghost Whisperer” this fall and the new show “The Mentalist” which I intend to at least give a try.

鼎宝福彩BURBANK, Calif. – August 27, 2008 – Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” “Huff”) will guest star in NBC’s midseason drama “Medium,” with Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette, in an episode entitled “A Taste of Her Own Medicine.” Danner will play Sarah Leaming, a local councilman’s wife and mother to a missing private nurse, whose extraordinary dedication to her chronically-ill step-daughter’s care led to some unconventional measures, it was announced today by Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron.

“Continuing a tradition of asking world-class actresses to come join us on ‘Medium,’ I am thrilled to announce that Blythe Danner will appear in one of the early episodes of Season 5,” said Caron. “I have seen her work at Williamstown, on the Broadway stage, as well as on film and television and to finally have the opportunity to actually work with her is a real honor for me and an exhilarating treat for the cast.”

鼎宝福彩Danner is a prolific Emmy- and Tony-winning actress who has appeared in numerous stage, screen, and film roles. She first gained national attention at age 25 by winning the Theatre World Award for her performance in the Lincoln Center Rep’s production of “The Miser” and went on to win a Tony Award in 1970 for her Broadway debut in “Butterflies Are Free.” She also received Tony nominations in 1980 for the original Broadway production of Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal,” in 1988 for a revival of “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and again in 2001 for a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Follies.” For 25 years, she has been a regular performer at the Williamstown Summer Theater Festival, where she also serves on the Board of Directors.

Rest of the PR after the fold . . .

ABC Announces Five New Series Pick-Ups

ABC Announces Five New Series Pick-Ups

Posted by Dustin on 08.27.2008 at 5:24 pm

New Series Include “Better Off Ted,” “Castle,” “Cupid,” “Single with Parents” and “The Unusuals”

ABC is adding five new series to its slate of programming for the 2008-09 season, it was announced today by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. The series include three new dramas, “Castle,” “Cupid” and “The Unusuals,” and two new comedies, “Better Off Ted” and “Single with Parents.”

“It was worth taking the time to go through the pilot process to really do it right,” said McPherson. “We’re excited about these series and feel they’re perfect additions to our dominant core slate of shows. These are the initial pick-ups, but there are a number of other pilots we feel will also get the go ahead in some form moving forward.”

鼎宝福彩New series previously announced are drama “Life on Mars,” comedies “The Goode Family” and “Scrubs” (new to ABC), and alternative series “Opportunity Knocks” and “Untitled Ashton Kutcher/Tyra Banks Project.”

“Castle” is a comedic crime procedural about a famous mystery novelist, Nick Castle, who is bored with his own success. When a real-world copycat murderer starts staging scenes from Nick’s novels, Nick is teamed up with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett and the challenge gets his blood pumping as he steps in to help solve the crime. Nick and Beckett’s styles instantly clash and sparks begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance. Nick is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, quick-witted teenage daughter and his long-suffering ex-wife… who happens to be his editor. “Castle” stars Nathan Fillion as Castle, Stana Katic as Beckett, Molly Quinn as Alexis, Susan Sullivan as Martha, Monet Mazur as Gina and Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Capt. Montgomery. Produced by ABC Studios. Andrew Marlowe serves as executive producer/writer, along with executive producers Laurie Zaks, Armyan Bernstein and Rob Bowman.

鼎宝福彩“Cupid” is a romantic dramedy about Trevor, a larger than life character who may or may not be the Roman god of love, Cupid, sent to earth to bring couples together. As fate would have it, Trevor is under the care of famous psychologist and self-help author Dr. Claire Allen, who is also dedicated to helping lonely hearts find their soul mates. While she agrees with his cause, she questions whether he’s crazy or really is Cupid. “Cupid” stars Bobby Cannavale as Trevor, Sarah Paulson as Claire, Rick Gomez as Felix and Camille Guaty as Lita. Produced by ABC Studios. Rob Thomas serves as executive producer/writer along with executive producers Jennifer Gwartz, Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge and Bharat Nalluri.

“The Unusuals” is a unique comedic procedural set in a New York police precinct. As a cop, it helps to have a twisted sense of humor, because every moment could be your last. Just ask Casey Schraeger, who started her day as an NYPD vice detective before unexpectedly being transferred to the homicide division. She quickly realizes that, not only does everyone in her new department have a distinct sense of humor, but also their own dirty little secrets. “The Unusuals” stars Amber Tamblyn as Det. Casey Schraeger, Jeremy Renner as Det. Joe Walsh, Terry Kinney as Sgt. Harvey Brown, Kai Lennox as Det. Ed Alvarez, Harold Perrineau as Det. Leo Banks, Adam Goldberg as Det. Eric Delahoy, Monique Gabriela Curnen as Det. Allison Beaumont and Joshua Close as Henry Cole. Produced by Sony Pictures Television. Noah Hawley is executive producer/writer.

鼎宝福彩“Better Off Ted” is a satirical office comedy featuring a successful but morally conscious man, Ted, who runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Need a suicidal turkey? Done. Need a metal that is hard as steel but bounces – and is edible? Done and done. Ted loves his seemingly perfect job; he loves his superhuman boss, Veronica, and colleagues Lem, Phil and Linda, but he’s starting to take a closer look at the company’s extremely questionable practices… especially when they try to cryogenically freeze one of Ted’s scientists for testing purposes. Starring Jay Harrington as Ted, Andrea Anders as Linda, Portia de Rossi as Veronica, Jonathan Slavin as Phil and Malcolm Barrett as Lem, “Better Off Ted” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Victor Fresco is executive producer/writer.

“Single with Parents” is a comedy about Lou, a woman in her mid-30s who is determined to have her own life despite her crazy blended family getting in the way. She’s thrilled that her divorced parents are leading exciting lives – really she is – except both of them rely on her way too much. Dad needs her as a surrogate parent and Mom counts on her 24/7 as a shrink and confidante. Lou has resolved to finally find a fulfilling life for herself. The series stars Alyssa Milano as Lou, Annie Potts as Elizabeth, Beau Bridges as Joe, Amanda Detmer as Sasha, Meagen Fay as Nancy and Eric Winter as Charlie. Based on her own experiences, “Single with Parents” is executive-produced and written by Kristin Newman. Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Matthew Carlson are also executive producers. The show is produced by FTP Productions in association with ABC Studios.

Returning series on the fall schedule are “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “Boston Legal,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Eli Stone,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Private Practice,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Samantha Who?,” “Supernanny,” “Ugly Betty,” “Wife Swap” and “20/20.”

Returning midseason series include “According to Jim,” “The Bachelor,” “Lost” and ABC News’ “Primetime.”

Big Brother: The POV Show

Big Brother: The POV Show

Posted by Dustin on 08.26.2008 at 10:33 pm

It’s Tuesday night, which means the POV competition and ceremony show.

Ollie was sitting pretty as he was thrilled Dan put Memphis up. Dan however put Memphis up not only for Ollie, but to make it seem they don’t have an alliance to everyone else. Renny and Keesha figured out what Dan’s deal was with Ollie, he confirmed it not by telling them, but letting them guess it and giving them the nod. They asked who he’d put up if Memphis won and took himself off? He said he would not put up Keesha or Renny, which only leaves one person. Keesha warned Dan though if Memphis doesn’t come down, they don’t know if Jerry would go out. She said sometimes these things don’t work out the way they intend them to.

Ollie meanwhile told Jerry and Michelle what his deal with Dan was, saying he wasn’t supposed to tell them anything. Oops! If this gets out, it gives Dan the perfect excuse for breaking his deal with Ollie, which he plans to. Dan, Keesha and Memphis discussed that Dan would put Michelle up if Memphis came down. They all know Michelle is on Ollie and Jerry’s side and don’t trust her or the others.

America voted this past week on who would get a call from home. Michelle really wanted the call, breaking down over it and the idea of talking to her mom. However it was Jerry who won the call from home.

The POV players were chosen and everyone but Ollie is playing. That bummed Ollie, he felt he was helpless and has to rely on Dan and their deal rather than being able to control the way things were going. Ollie came to see Dan to make sure he holds up his end of the deal. Ollie told Dan they needed him on their side, they have his back next week and for whatever came down the road.

The POV was played, which involved putting pieces of a puzzle together. In the end Memphis won. Ollie was giddy, he thinks Keesha or Renny will have to go up. He couldn’t wait to see Dan put one of the people he had an alliance with up. Dan however plans to put up either Ollie or Michelle, saying they are in for a shock.

Dan called Renny and Keesha into the HOH room to tell him about the third part of the deal, that he would have to put them up as Ollie had the choice. Dan says he won’t put them up though, he plans to put up Michelle. During a DR session Dan said to just let Ollie have all the power would be the dumbest move ever in BB history on his part.

鼎宝福彩Ollie came to talk to Dan, he wanted to put Keesha up. Dan has no plans to follow through, but let Ollie think he was. Dan came up with a game to cause fight at the POV meeting by orchestrating a little game at the POV meeting to get others to say who they would want up. He thought it would take the heat off him. He informed people about this idea one on one, and Renny didn’t like it and thinks it was a cop out on Dan’s part.

鼎宝福彩The POV meeting happened and Memphis saved himself. Dan then announced his little game which he called POV Roulette. He made them all say a person’s name to put on the block, if they wouldn’t play then they’d go on the block. I think the last person’s name said also would end up on the block, which was how he let the veto replacement be chosen. However he orchestrated it all and Michelle ended up on the block. Somehow he made it look like this was Ollie’s fault (which I wasn’t following to be honest).

Personally, Ollie got played for a fool and has nobody to blame but himself. He thinks he made the best deal in BB history, but he made the worst. If he wanted the power of the HOH, he should have kept fighting to win it. The problem of course was Ollie was ready to drop and made this offer to Dan to try and get the power knowing he didn’t have the strength to hang on anymore. How he thought Dan would stick to this deal I have no idea!

Spoilerish POV aftermath ahead!

After the POV, both Ollie and Michelle explode and big time. As usual, I don’t know how much will be shown on Thursday’s show, but it got bad. Michelle dropped the F-bomb left and right and tried to hide from all cameras in the house, even screaming at the cameramen to stop pointing the cams in her face.

鼎宝福彩Ollie said seriously nasty and ugly things to Memphis and then went on a violent rampage breaking and throwing things. He also apparently tried to turn Dan’s alliance on him, telling them that he never wanted to put Memphis up and that was Dan’s idea, that he wanted to put Keesha up all along. Whatever he said worked, at least for a bit, as Renny became furious with Dan thinking he was going to put her up.

鼎宝福彩Michelle is also once again on her kick that Dan is a plant by BB, that he’s a fake. Ollie agrees and tried to convince everyone Monica isn’t real, she’s with the show. He said something about how when he was at the production office to meet with BB, she was there. That’s a pretty bad lie to be honest, as BB wouldn’t be so stupid to use a staff member in Dan’s HOH photos and not think they’d get caught. I don’t know if some of these people are really bad liars or believe the lies they tell!
